Although the United Nation Assembly considers Sanitation a human right, still 2,4 billion people have no access to adequate sanitation. In consequence more than 900 children under the age of 5 die every day because of infectious diseases, diarrhoea or mal nutrition caused by microbes or parasites.

Adequate sanitation is not only a question of the availability of hygienic and worthy toilet facilities, often referred to as improved sanitation, but also of the save treatment and sustainable management of the sanitation residue.

The so-called sustainable sanitation chain is an effective tool to prevent faecally –transmitted infections, including Cholera and diarrhoeal disease, which remains the second leading cause of morbidity and mortality among children under the age of five.

We are working to provide an enjoyable life and
basic human rights for 57 families in
MOFOLO NORTH SQUATTER CAMP, SOWETO
by implementing sustainable sanitation in their homes.
